Most tourists who go to the Cambodian islands automatically go to Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem.

Koh Ta Kiev is a hidden gem that is currently not as developed as the other islands.

It’s not the easiest island to get to and has a military presence but pristine waters and tranquil beaches await this amazing adventure.

Before You Read Further

This is a hidden gem and we recommend keeping it that way. Pack up whatever you bring and expect a rustic adventure in paradise.

If living in a treehouse without running water isn’t your thing – this may not be the place for you.

Koh Ta Kiev

Koh Ta Kiev Is beautiful and by far the most laid-back of the Cambodian islands.

We recommend getting here before the developers do. You will find yellow sand beaches shaded by green pine trees surrounded by coral reefs with excellent snorkeling.

There are several rustic-looking eco-resorts with no hot water, air-conditioning, or internet. Expect to be disconnected.
Cell phone reception is sparse but we surprisingly had amazing cell reception with Metfone.

This is by far one of the last places on the southeast Asia backpacking route that has not been touched by tourism and and development. This won’t last for long.

Top Beaches on Koh Ta Kiev

The Top Beaches in order of serenity are:

1. Plankton Beach (Formerly The Other Side Beach / Naked Beach)
2. Long Beach
3. Last Point Beach

Our favorite beaches are Plankton Beach and Looong Beach.
