Chocolate Hills
Chocolate Hills are a geological formation in Bohol with over 1,260 hills. They are covered in green grass that turns brown (like chocolate) during the dry season.
The hills are “most chocolate” in late April / early May when its drier.
The best time of the day to go is late afternoon at the end of sunny day and stay for sunset or sunrise.
There is an observation deck / viewpoint at the top but expect to climb 214 steps.
Admission Cost: 50PHP Adults; 15PHP Kids
Tarsier Sanctuary
Tarsiers are usually 3-6 inches in height making them one of the smallest primates in the world.
They are related to monkeys, lemurs and gorillas but are in their own genus called Carlitos.
There are only about 700 tarsiers on the entire island of Bohol.
Their eyes are fixed to their skull so they can rotate their head 180 degrees.
Remember these are delicate animals so be respectful of their space and noise. They can commit suicide if they are exposed to too much stress and loud/noisy tourists can be pretty stressful.
There are several sanctuaries where you can see them:
Tarsier Conservation Area (Loboc) – **
Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary (Corella) – Preferred but farther out ***
Philippine Tarsier Recreation (Panglao) – *
Photography Hint: Bring a good low light telephoto lens as you cant get too close to them.
Admission Cost: Varies
Bohol Python and Wildlife Park
Be careful of the Bohol Python and Wildlife Park – it is notorious for caging up animals in small concrete and metal cages. The animals seem depressed and obviously want to get out and live in a bigger space so we don’t recommend supporting them until they give the animals more humane living environments. Read the disappointing reviews on tripadvisor. Imagine being in a small caged twice your size for your entire life?
The Worlds Largest [dead] Python was disappointingly dead and preserved.
The Butterfly Park has a small collection of butterflies and was the highlight of the tour.

Butterfly Park
(Bohol Habitat Conservation Center)
Humanely run quaint butterfly sanctuary in a tropical setting with guided tours. Good place to learn about butterflies in a natural environment.
Photography Hint: Bring a good telephoto zoom lens or macro lens.
Admission Cost: Varies
Hanging Bridge
A long creaky and shaky bamboo bridge that runs over the Loboc River. Part of tours so expect lots of tourists taking photos.
Admission Cost – Hanging Bridge: 20PHP/pax ; 20PHP parking fee

Bohol is an easy day trip. We did it in a day and loved it. Wish we could spend more time there.
